Architect's Abode

Wayne – "My ten year old son and I stayed at the Architect's Adobe in the community of Palisades from July 3 through July 16 2012. The accommodations were as advertised, just as we anticipated and very comfortable. The hosts, David and Susan, made us feel at home throughout our stay and were very personable. The porch lite was on every night! We had quick, easy access to bus routes, restaurants and stores. Palisades is a wonderful community, conducive to relaxing after spending a long day seeing sites .I recommend strolling around town to absorb local flavor (art gallery/restaurants) and hiking down to the old canal and Potomac River, both adjacent to home .Kayaking/biking break up the site seeing quite well. Bus rides to site attractions were carefree and served as short time to quickly access last minute touring details and unwind at end of day and were economical. I recommend staying at the Architect's Adobe if you want an environment that is stress free and allows you to replenish from a long day absorbing DC."

Cheryl – "This comfortable apartment is as beautiful as it looks in the photos. Very well fitted with many thoughtful extra touches. The kitchen and bathroom are newly fitted and especially good. Situated in a quiet forested suburb, a car would be ideal as there is street parking, however it is also very accessible by public transport. We did not have a car but the bus route is a short walk and runs every 20 mins into Georgetown, Du Pont circle and Downtown. The owners are really hospitable and friendly, ready to help and give local maps and advice. We enjoyed our 4day visit, the choice of local restaurants is great, with Starbucks and shops also only a short walk away. It was like home away from home and we would love to return on another visit."

We would stay there again and we would absolutely recommend this location to others!"

The Best of Washington, D.C.

Rajeev – "Our stay at Charlotte's place went perfectly. - The accommodation: Very well maintained with all the amenities as listed - The area: Very convenient. Since we had our own car, we were able to get to places into the city, or across the Potomac very quickly and easily. Plus we were close to Georgetown, and my wife was able to make it to Georgetown Cupcakes without a problem! Plus parking on the street was no issue, the locality was definitely safe, with Safeway within a 3 min walk. - The host: Charlotte is a perfect host! Very accessible, responsive and helpful. We got great tips on how to make the best use of our time and key details about the things to do at the places we wanted to visit. - Overall: We had the best time in Washington, DC -- thanks to Charlotte!"

Jean – "I have only wonderful things to say about Charlotte and her beautiful place! She is definitely one of the most gracious hosts we have ever had ~ she went out of her way to be accommodating and helpful at every turn. With all her wonderful advice, she made getting around D.C. easy and fun. She is a lovely lady, and the house and neighborhood are simply beautiful. Perfect location, right next to great shops and the bus stop! I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a great place in D.C. :-)"

Alesa & Shawn – "Charlotte's place is just as described in her listing. It's in a safe, scenic, established neighborhood that's convenient for sight-seeing, *excellent* dining or just hanging out. You can get to a supermarket, drugstore and wine market (and even a library!) just around the corner if you need anything on the fly. The guest area is very roomy, well-appointed, quiet, spotlessly clean and comfortable. She even has stacks of maps, brochures for attractions and guidebooks to the city and region, plus she's always available to recommend a restaurant, a good route for sightseeing - anything you would ask a concierge at a fine hotel. We are extremely lucky to have found Charlotte and could not have asked for a more friendly, knowledgeable, gracious host. We highly recommend The Best of Washington, DC and hope to return there soon ourselves!!"

Meeree - "Our stay at Charlotte's place was excellent. Nice big room, clean, private, warm, everything you would want to have! It felt like home. She also had a lot of brochures and books available for your use, even had metro cards and international phone cards! Charlotte had a visitor's booklet which had all the information you'd ever need during your stay there. eg. nice restaurants, public transportation, general tips... etc She also let us use her kitchen which was really nice. We would highly recommend you to stay here if you are in Washington DC."

The Bird House

Gergo – "The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, they made our entire stay extremely easy and comfortable. Checking in and out were done smoothly too. The apartment itself was perfectly clean, big enough for the two of us; I just wish we could actually live there :) The neighborhood was silent and perfect for walking around, we could find several nice restaurants just a few steps from the place. Supermarkets are not so far either. I would strongly recommend booking their house for people who want to spend their nights and weekends away from the busy city center but still need to go there every weekday: it's just 20 minutes by bus ;) Thank you Charlotte for everything!"

November 2012, stayed at The Bird House

Gregory – "The birdhouse was great! It is close to everything you need, yet far enough away to feel comfortable and at home. Mattias was helpful and a fantastic host. Any time we had a question we sent him a text and soon we had an answer or help. Any time we wanted to see museums, take a tour, go to the flea market, etc. we jumped on the D6 bus and in no time we were there. And if we didn't feel like going downtown we could walk to a number of shops, restaurants, hiking trails, or parks in the neighborhood."

Karen – "My husband and I stayed in the Birdhouse for a week long getaway. We enjoyed the quiet and picturesque location of this apartment. The bus and subway system were easy and convenient to navigate from there. I was very impressed with the communication we received from Charlotte and the host prior and during our visit. We felt very well taken care of and comfortable in our home away from home."

The Birds Nest

Felecia – "The Bird's Nest was exactly as represented in the photos: very clean, comfortable and centrally located. It was a welcome place to call home for our family of four for the week. Also, having our very own private parking spot is a big plus, and probably worth more than gold in DC! Charlotte and Matthias were wonderful, gracious and accommodating hosts. Matthias was readily available by email or phone once we were on site, and any problems (such as a tripped breaker) or requests were quickly taken care of. Thanks, we had a great experience!"

July 2012, stayed at The Bird's Nest

Cayley – "Originally my husband and I had requested an alternate place and Charlotte had suggested the Bird's Nest would fit our needs better, and it was a lower price! Thank you so much. The Bird's Nest was perfect for us. The location is great; near numerous tasty restaurants, bus stops, coffee and stores. The neighborhood was very nice and safe; we walked and took the bus everywhere we went."

Capitol Court

Cynthia – "This apartment was wonderful and perfect in all ways, decorated beautifully, very clean, perfect location. Inside and out was just lovely. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. You really got the D.C. experience being there. Having a nice kitchen with all the appliances one would need was so convenient. We would spend our days exploring and some nights it was perfect to be able to make a sandwich and gear up for the next day and not have to go out for every meal. The bed and bedding was first rate, and very comfortable. The decor was cozy and very tasteful. We also had a spot to park our rented car so we spent a couple of days in the country. Although, you could spend weeks in town and never see it all. The location was perfect to walk to everything or just around the corner was the Union Station (beautiful) to catch a cab. It was easy to book. Everyone was so helpful in every way. All in all, we are a retired couple who had the perfect adventure. Thank you"

October 2012, stayed Capitol Court

Lindsey – "We had a wonderful stay at Capitol Court. Charlotte and the Charlotte’s Web and LUXbnb team provided a great experience. The property is even better than the pictures. The location is away from any street noise, feels very safe, and is a short walk from Union Station. There is a local market nearby and a great coffee shop just down the street. The property is in the perfect central spot for a trip to DC. We were able to spend the day seeing the sights, drop by to rest for a bit, and then head out again for the evening. I would highly recommend this rental to couples visiting the area. It's the best combination of hotel amenities with a true local feel. Reserving the room was easy and Charlotte was quick to respond to any questions or concerns. We had a fabulous time and can't wait to visit again!"

Kate & Hal – "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Capital Court. I am hard pressed to say what I liked best...nice firm bed, fluffy towels, Christmas decorations throughout the home, and nice amenities/updated & well appointed....oh...and the location!!! As this was the first time using VRBO...I was pleasantly surprised. I will not hesitate to use this platform in future trips. And our next trip to DC-Will rebook this home!"

Capitol Hill

Earl – "The place is soooooo convenient to all the places we wanted to see in DC. The amenities are all walking distance and the eating places are all downstairs as well which saved us a lot of time and money. The unit has all the facilities we needed, i.e. cooking, cooling and cable TV where we watched the London Olympics during our spare time. If I have the opportunity to visit the USA again I will surely book this place. This is worth recommending to everyone, to our friends and relatives in Melbourne, Australia."

August 2012, stayed at Capital Hill

Aubrey & Jeremy – "Perfect place to stay if you want to tour the Smithsonian museums! We could walk there in 20 minutes, even if the traffic was crazy. The neighborhood is safe. There is a grocery store half a block away and the union pub, downstairs, was so handy to have after a long day of walking. The apartment was very neat and orderly. And Charlotte provided maps and visitors guides that I used every day! I have no negative things to say about this Capitol hill property! My next visit to DC will be booked with Charlotte!"

Nithya – "We had a wonderful experience staying at this lovely Capitol Hill apartment. The space was as advertised, everything was clean, and very well kept. In addition, the owners Kevin and Charlotte were so kind, communicated well and were more than accommodating when I had to make some minor adjustments to my stay. The location of the apartment is excellent as well. We did not have a car, but we did not need one. All the major sites and metro were within walking distance and a pleasant walk at that. Overall, I loved my time in DC and the experience was all the more enjoyable because of this great place. Would stay here again if I returned!"

Esme – "Charlotte & Kevin were easy to communicate with. You couldn't ask for a safer and more convenient location from which to explore the city. Stephanie – "It was fantastic to have this "home" for a week while we were in the capital on vacation. Easy walk to restaurants, Trader Joe's (!) and the red line metro at DuPont Circle. We easily picked up a cab on 22nd when we needed one. The condo was clean and very easy to get to. It is located on quiet street and since it is in the middle of the embassy district, it's probably in one of the safest neighborhoods in DC! We're used to a queen sized bed, so the double was a bit smaller than we were used to. Having the washer/dryer right outside the door was handy and we did do a load of our clothes. It's always nice to be able to pack light and wash out the miles of walking we did every day through museums and monuments. We really enjoyed this condo much better than a hotel since there weren't people up and down the hall at all hours and knowing that no one would be coming into our room every day when we weren't there."

DuPont Circle Deluxe

Dana – "Lovely apartment in a great location near the metro, good restaurants and a yummy farmers market. The apartment is very comfy, clean, cool in DC's steamy July, and the kitchen has all the necessaries. Charlotte and team make everything very easy - getting in, checking out, and everything in between. Thanks for a great week!"

Tom – "We really enjoyed our seven days at the DuPont Circle O ST home. Great neighborhood with excellent restaurants. Metro and Circulator were great. The apt. had all the comforts of home, even a waiting ZipCar. Safe neighborhood for a real feel of D.C. All connections from start to finish with Charlotte were spot on. Don't hesitate to rent this place. Tom"

DuPont Circle Retreat

Patricia – "This apartment was in a wonderful area. It was 4 blocks from the Metro station and there were tons of shops and restaurants just down the street. Charlotte made the stay easy even though there was a bad storm the night we arrived and she had limited internet access for the first couple of days we were there. We would definitely contact Charlotte for and apartment in the DC area again."

July 2012, stayed at DuPont Circle Retreat

Irene and Jay – "The DuPont Circle Retreat is exactly that! A wonderful retreat! One evening after walking miles, we were so hungry that we got Pizza from the place on P Street, got some beverages at a grocery on P Street, and walked the 1/2 block to the apartment and had the best relaxing dinner on the patio. We left on an adventure every day. The metro was easy to navigate, but frequently we just walked the entire way to our destination...the Smithsonian... the Kennedy Center... We felt comfortable and safe everywhere we went within miles of DuPont Circle. A wonderful stay, thank you! Charlotte was wonderful and extremely helpful via email prior to our stay, and our stay went smoothly. I would definitely stay here again, as the location was wonderful. The apartment was clean and comfortable."

July 2012, stayed at DuPont Circle Retreat

Robert – "My wife, two teenagers and I recently spent 5 days at the DuPont Circle Retreat. The location is excellent with easy access to the Metro and a variety of restaurants within walking distance. The unit was comfortable and suited all of our needs. Charlotte is very easy to work with and was very responsive to our questions. She provides a very thorough manual on the unit that answers most questions. We would stay at the location again."

Valeria – "Charlotte is very friendly and an excellent hostess. She always offered comprehensive information on Washington and took the time to address my many questions from the top sight-seeing destinations, tours, where to eat, tourist traps to avoid and the closest discount shopping. Her guest preparation It is so thorough that she even gave me a card to carry with me for using the bus/metro and a number for discounts at the local supermarket and drug store! Her home is very clean, comfortable and well located. I recommend this property 100%. I loved it!"

Georgetown Gem

Rennie – "Beautiful space with koi pond and garden. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including a well-stocked kitchen for cooking and dining in. The WIFI connection and air conditioning were great. The location was the best; in Georgetown-within a short walking distance of the main street, but quiet and tucked among the historic homes. Our host was responsive to our questions, yet we were afforded complete privacy. We would not hesitate to return."

Valerie – "This is a perfect pied-a-terre....only a block from a street full of restaurants and stores plus the bus which takes you all over DC for $1. It's in a lovely historic residential neighborhood with a beautiful park nearby. The apt is very comfortable - nicely furnished, very spacious for a studio and well equipped plus there's a big courtyard garden. It's at the bottom of the house so there's not a lot of natural light but the lamps/ lighting are excellent and it's extremely quiet. I surprised myself by being excited to have a full size washer and dryer - but after 2 weeks of travelling that was great. Kevin & Charlotte are really helpful; thank you for a great stay."

Palisades Plush

Cheryl – "This is a great apartment in a great location! The bus is just steps away, and there are restaurants on the block along with a little market. Charlotte and the onsite host (Matthias) are both wonderful to work with."

June 2012, stayed at Palisades Plush

John – "The Palisades area which is just west of Georgetown is a charming, safe and quaint neighborhood. The unit Palisades Plush was truly as it was advertised. The unit was immaculate. The facilities, including the kitchen & laundry were impeccable. The queen sized bed was very comfortable. The list of "House Rules" which was emailed to us contained many valuable suggestions for sights and just getting around Washington DC. I will admit taking the taxi the first day from Union Station was a bit daunting as we left Washington DC. John & I were determined to use public transportation during our visit. As it turns out the D6 bus stop which is located across the street from the unit will get you to and from all of the Washington DC sites. It was reliable and the entire transportation system is clean & well run. We purchased Smart trip transportation cards in advance which are very convenient to use. We certainly had privacy and felt safe in the area. We would leave early and return usually after dark. Some days we would combine the bus route with the Metro to get us to our destination. For our return to Union Station we were confident enough that we used the D6 bus to take us & our luggage. The cost? For John & I to Union Station was $3. (The Taxi on the way to the Palisades cost $30.) Again if you are arriving by Amtrak and purchased a sleeping car fare, you can check your luggage in the Acela Lounge in Union Station for free just by showing your Amtrak ticket proving that you had the sleeping car accommodation coming to Washington DC. For those driving an automobile, my suggestion would be to drive to a Metro station that has parking available and then use the Metro to get to your destination in Washington DC."

May 2012, stayed at Palisades Plush

Dirk – "It is very nice and confortable apartment. Perfect for one or two persons for a stay in a very beautiful neighborhood. The apartment is in a basement and the ceilings are not so high. But I'm a tall guy and that was absolutely no problem for me. To make it short, every time when I'm looking for an apartment in DC my first choice are always apartments which are hosted by Charlotte. Also the whole communication before, during and after my stay with Charlotte was very trustable and reliable. Five stars for this place. Thanks again and hopefully I get the same apartment for my next visits."

Surekha - "A lovely studio in a very beautiful part of DC. The bus Journey to downtown is in itself a great sightseeing experience; you go through the most gorgeous parts of Georgetown. And there are plenty of sights in Georgetown on the way back to the apartment, so if you weren't staying here you'd need to bus out to see them! Very safe, even in the evenings, as there are restaurants and bus stops on the same block. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, and made my stay feel very comfortable and stress-free. I very much enjoyed my month-long stay."

April, 2012, stayed at Palisades Sanctuary

Maria - "Charlotte's apartment was very attractive and convenient, in a very pleasant area of Washington DC. Charlotte provided a wealth of information to us before our arrival, which was extremely helpful. We found the washing machine and dryer in the apartment very convenient especially when there was rain. Having Matthias on the premises was very helpful-he was very friendly, ready to help and proved us with lots of information. The bus ride to downtown DC (15-20 minutes) was sometimes inconvenient."

April 2012, stayed at Palisades Sanctuary

Claudia – "I stayed here for 5 days and it was a great experience. The studio had everything that I needed and it was clean. WIFI and cable worked perfectly. The neighborhood was very safe and quiet, and it took me only 15 minutes to get to Georgetown. The host of this studio is Matthias and he was very kind and helpful. I definitely recommend this place!"

Tranquil Glade

Katrina – "My husband and I had a fantastic stay at Tranquil Glade! The hostess was very organized and provided us with all information we needed well before our arrival (including a "visitor's manual" that was incredible helpful!!). The apartment was very clean, comfortable, cool, and quiet with all amenities. I commuted to a conference in the center of DC every day, and had no problem taking one of the buses back at any hour. The garden was lovely for pre- dinner appetizers and beer. We would recommend this place 100% for anyone who would like a relaxing stay with easy access to downtown."

July 2012, stayed at Tranquil Glade

Meredith – "I had never booked online before, but Charlotte made it so easy. I did not get to meet her, or Susan the property owner, but felt very at home anyway. Kevin - who did help me at the location was wonderful and considerate. It was my birthday and he and Charlotte even left me a birthday gift! I was sorry to have to leave, I enjoyed my stay - it was truly a Tranquil getaway. I look forward to renting again from Charlotte. :-) There was a super sweet black and white cat who came to visit me at the location - who does she belong to? I wanted to steal her she was so sweet! Charlotte was that you? Turning into a cat to watch over me? Life Prof McGonigall on Harry Potter?"

July 2012, stayed at Tranquil Glade

Paul – "We, a family of 3, had a wonderful 1 week stay in Tranquil Glade. The apartment is perfect, very nice and clean and was exactly what we needed. Everything is in perfect shape and the kitchen is fully equipped, which made us cook dinner a couple of days. The area is very nice and peaceful and small shops and very nice restaurants are just around the corner, walk of 5 minutes. Susan is such a nice and helpful host, and we also enjoyed the company of her nice cat "Hemingway", who discretely stayed outdoors. Bus stops are just at the corner and with the help from Susan's descriptions it was easy to get around, both to Georgetown, Great Falls and downtown DC. We can strongly recommend Tranquil Glade."
