FAQ's for Guests

How do I make a reservation? 

Enter your travel dates and the number of guestsin your party. Review available properties by neighborhood or accommodation type. When you have chosen the property you wish to book, simply enter your payment information to make your 50% deposit. We will follow up with a confirmation email and arrival information. 

 

How can I make the most of my time in Washington? 

We provide you with tips we have compiled as long-time DC residents so you can navigate the city as a local and make the most of your time in the Nation’s Capital. From fine dining to off-the-beaten-path experiences, we've got it covered. We'll also key you into a variety of local events (many of them free!) so you can make the most of your Washington, DC experience. 

 

When is payment due? 

LUXbnb charges 50% of your payment at the time of reservation and the balance30 daysbefore arrival. 

 

What is the optional trip insurance for? 

If there is a chance that you may need to cancel your trip for any reason, we suggest you buy trip insurance. LUXbnb offers travel insurance through Generali to cover your deposit.  Coverage starts from the moment you purchase insurance. This comprehensive travel insurance plan also covers baggage, trip delays, medical and dental care, emergency assistance and transport, rental car damage, ID theft, and more. Will I need to pay tax on my stay? 

All Washington, DC rentals <91 nights must pay the DC Sales & Use Tax of 15.95%. We don't like it either! 

 

Are your locations safe? 

LUXbnb properties are located only in neighborhoods considered the safest and most sought-after in the city. 

 

Do your properties have WIFI?  

All LUXbnb properties have strong stable WIFI. 

 

Where can I park my car?  

This varies by property.  For most properties that do not have off-street or unrestricted street parking, we can order a street parking permit from ParkDC for your car.  Please inquire.   

We recommend leaving your car at home, a vehicle is more of a nuisance in the city than an asset. DC has a robust public transit system, moreover, car-share services like UBER, Lyft, and VIA are abundant.  

 

Where can I do my laundry? 

All LUXbnb properties* have in-unit washer and dryer.  
*Exceptions: Two properties, Best of Washington and Palisades Condo, have an onsite washer dryer that is not in-unit; the Lovely Shaw Apartment does not offer a washer dryer.  

 

What time of day is check-in? 

 

Arrival time is any time after 3pm on the first day of your rental.  

 

How do I get the keys? 

LUXbnb uses keyless door locks. We will email your door code 2 days before your arrival.  

 

How do I work the keypad on the keyless lock? 

We use several types of keyless locks. Please refer to your Arrival Information email for specific instructions.   In general, you will have a 4-digit code that, after entering, will either retract the bolt (electronic locks) or enable you to twist the knob to retract the bolt.  Sometimes you will need to tap the keypad screen to wake-up the lock.   

 

What if the keypad doesn’t work?  

Call us at 202-550-7876, we have a MasterLock lock box on site with the lock keys.  

Instructions: Line up the combination along the center line. Pull down the lever to the left of the dials and the box will pop open. After you remove the key, please close and spin the dials to re-lock the lockbox.   

 

What if I have a question or need help during my stay?

How do I contact a doctor if I am injured or ill during my stay? 

Contact 911. 

 

What is the check-out procedure? 

Check-out is 10:00am on the day of departure. Please secure the property and adjust thermostat to save energy. Let us know if there is anything needing our attention.   

 

How do I extend my stay? 

Washington is so beautiful and culturally enriching that we can't blame you for wanting to stay longer. Contact Customer Service ASAP at CustomerService@LUXbnb.com or text us at 202-550-7876 to ensure availability for an extension. In most cases we can easily edit your existing reservation to include additional nights, weeks or months. 

 

What if I need to leave early? 

Let us know if you aredeparting early and follow the normal checkout procedures. Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse you for early departure.  If you purchase travel insurance, they may reimburse you for the nights not stayed.  

 

Do you allow pets? 

Most LUXbnbproperties are pet free, but we do have exceptions. Please inquire. For those properties that do allow pets, we have a Pet Cleaning Fee of $200 for stays under 14 days. 

 

Do you have any baby gear for rent? 

Some properties do have a PaknPlay. Please inquire and remember to bring the sheet. 

 

 Can I light a fire in the fireplace? 

Fires are not permitted in fireplaces without LUXbnb approval in writing.  Use only synthetic logs, wood burning fires are never permitted.
